Project Overview

The Empire of Ishola

Strides for Africa and The Ishola Empire are teaming up to bring clean water to Bumbogo Secondary School. Located on the outskirts of Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, Bumbogo Secondary School aims to provide technology- and agriculture-based education to more than 750 students.

Project Type: Rainwater Collection and Filtration System

The Ishola Empire is dedicated to providing various programs and institutions that focus on education, healthcare, mental health services, and personal development. They strongly believe that by equipping individuals with the necessary tools and skills, they can fully prepare them for their nobility roles and empower them to financially support themselves through entrepreneurship.

  • Our implementation partner, Water Access Rwanda, is constructing valley and gutter rainwater catchments points around Bumbogo, collecting rainwater that passes through filtration systems, and ready to be accessed at drinking stations.

  • In Rwanda, only 57 per cent of the population access safe drinking water that is within 30 minutes of their home. When children spend time collecting water, it often keeps them out of school (unicef, 2024). We are working to ensure that all students at Bumbogo Secondary School are able to focus on their education and not spend time collecting water.

  • Our water projects are locally-led and community-owned. We deploy your donations to the field, where our in-country partners go to work rehabilitating old water systems, building new ones, or completing sanitation and hygiene training.
